Traveling Tears

Starting at about 1:30 a.m this morning my phone started ringing like crazy. The girls made it to Athens but their luggage did not! And to top it off their ride wasn't at the airport. So after much calling and confusion I got them a ride from the airport to the bus station. They had to then take a six hour bus ride and a one hour car ride to the hotel in Olympia to meet up with the tour group.

When Heather called me at 9:00 Greece time she was sobbing like crazy. I think she is just really overwhelmed. She said that their clothes are filthy and they aren't sure when or if their luggage is coming. There isn't a washer and dryer they will let them use at the hotel and she was very confused about the money exchange and language barrier. I talked her down a little but thinking that it might help to focus on something positive I asked her how the hotel was. That made her cry more. I guess the hotel is crappy to boot. So the poor girl wasn't doing to great. But she said she was going to bed and was gonna pray that tomorrow would be better. I was feeling pretty bad for them!

I just called to check on them since it's now 7:00 in Olympia. When she answered the phone she sounded like her old self again. No crying. She was so shocked that they got a call and was really excited for 7 in the morning. She is not a morning person. But she said they washed their clothes in the sink and used the hairdryer to blow dry them. They have some makeup and were able to shower and got some sleep so they are feeling better. She seemed excited about the day so that makes me happy!

Today according to the itinerary they are going to "visit the archaeological site of Olympia, including the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the ancient stadium and the Archaeological Museum, where Greek works of art such as Nike of Paionios and terracotta statues date to 5th century B.C. Drive north through the plains of Eliad and Achaia, crossing the Corinth Strait via a cabled bridge from Rion to Antirion. Pass the towns of Nafpactos and Itea en route to the city of Delphi, home of the ruins of the Tholos Temple."

So happy archaeological day girls! I'm going to bed!

Munich and Miracles

Well Heather and Kelci are now on a flight headed to Munich. From there they will fly on to Athens. They took off about 1:50 and should get there at 7:50 in the morning there which will be 1:50 here. They should then arrive in Greece at 12:50 there. They were bored and a little nervous but holding strong!

And I GOT A CALL!!!! The adoption agency called about a birth mom that is 7 months pregnant. She has some questions for me and wants more info about me! She liked my profile so that is good! I am so EXCITED!!!! This little miracle is why I'm not on a plane to Munich!!!!

Denver Dilemas

Darby and I took Heather and Kelci to the airport today. As I was helping them get checked in my cell phone rang and it was Senator Roberts office calling. They were calling in response to an email I sent begging them for help in getting my passports. They just wanted to let me know they were working on it. A day late and a dollar short if you ask me.

I promised myself that I wouldn't cry in front of Heather and Kelci. I didn't want them to feel bad about going while Darby and I had to miss the trip. But we went to say goodbye and Darby and I both started bawling! I really wanted to go with them!!! But most of all I really didn't want Heather to go without me. She is my whole world now and the idea of something happening to her terrifies me. If a plane crashes and we are both on it no big deal. If something would happen to her I couldn't handle. Someone would have to just shoot me! So we did the crying and Heather cried a little and she was so cute about it. She said "I'm coming back to you I promise." She said it with such conviction! I love that girl!!!

So we cried our way to the car and then processed our pain while participating in some retail therapy. I found an adorable dress for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary party. I also found a couple great tee shirts, and a diaper bag. We had dinner at On The Border and then headed home.

While we were shopping Heather kept calling with complications. I guess there was a big storm in Denver so they weren't letting planes land there. The girls connecting flight out of Denver to Frankfurt was supposed to leave Denver at 5:35. They didn't even leave Wichita until 6:30! At first they thought they would catch an 8:15 flight from Denver to London and then go onto Athens but they missed that flight by 3 minutes. So now the girls are stuck in Denver overnight. They won't be able to leave Denver until 1:55 tomorrow afternoon. I tried to tell Heather that it really is a great deal. She is now taking the 7 day tour of Greece + a 1 day excursion in Denver. She didn't buy that that was a good deal.... Poor kid!

So now I'm gonna be up half the night waiting to hear from them that they are settled in at the hotel and are okay... Nothing ever goes right in this family!

Leaving On A Jet Plane

Well I'm actually leaving in a car with Darby to take Heather and Kelci to the airport. They are the ones leaving on a jet plane. I'm excited for them! Darby and I are going to take them and then we are going to do some shopping or something fun in the city. It should be a good day!!!

Got Friends?

I spent the afternoon with my best friend Darby. We went to her parents house and used their pool. It was a little chilly... okay it was a lot chilly! Her dad hasn't had the pool open that long so the water hadn't warmed but I suckered Darby into swimming. After our bodies went numb from the cold it wasn't so bad. We had a good time. We laughed a lot so that is always good!

Since the pool hasn't been open long her dad hadn't installed the ladder yet. Getting in was no problem, we just jumped the wall. Well getting out proved to be an adventure. We are both really short and couldn't get over the wall. Darby didn't like my first idea of me throwing her over the wall so we went with my second idea. I held her pool raft against the wall and she climbed up the raft and over the side. Then she got the ladder for me to use. It worked great and we laughed like crazy at how silly we must have looked to all the neighbors.

I've been thinking about it tonight and thinking about the trip we should be taking tomorrow but will be missing. The whole point of the trip for me was to do something nice for our friends as a way to celebrate them for how supportive and wonderful they were to Heather and I while mom was sick. It was a big thank you. Well today reminds me that Darby doesn't need or want big thank yous. We don't need to fly to Greece to attest to our friendship. We don't need presents and cards. We just need each other. She pushed and pulled me through my mom dying and that's all I needed from her. Just her being there. And I just need to get her out of the pool.

So Darby I know your reading this and I know we aren't on a plane to paradise but everyday with you is like my day in Greece. And I'm sure thankful I don't need a passport to be your friend!!!

Weekend

Today was quite a nice day. Quite a bit of my family came to visit this afternoon and that was great. It has been awhile since I've seen them all so it was awesome to see them. We went out to the cemetary to decorate mom's place up for memorial day. I was shocked to see how many people had been out and decorated all the graves. Even the people that never get visitors had decorations today. I was thrilled to see that!

Tomorrow I'm hoping to get a little bit more sorting done in the spare bedroom. I need to get it cleared out so I can start repainting it to make it a nursery. Hard to believe it's time to repaint again! YUCK!!!

Well Lena wants out so I better run.

The Police

Yes the title says The Police but I'm not talking about cops folks! I'm talking about the band! Yeah you know them, you love them, and I'm guessing you missed them. I know that I have. But the great thing is they are back and they are touring and to get you ready they have a new police cd!

When I was a kid my mom and I used to listen to The Police. I loved the song Roxanne. I used to dance around like a crazy girl whenever we heard one of their songs. Birds

I don't know if I've ever mentioned it but I'm not a big fan of birds. This is actually my Aunt Adair's fault. When I was young, maybe 10 or 11, my cousins and I all wanted to watch a scary movie. We wanted Aunt Adair to rent us Freddy Kruegar or something like that. But she rented Alfred Hitchcocks movies Birds. She said it was the scariest movie she had ever seen. Well it scared me to death. All the birds pecking out eyes and attacking people. Freaky stuff. So I've been a little scared of them ever since.

Well tonight I was sitting on the patio and I saw some baby birds in a nest in the yard. I thought to myself that they were kinda cute though still creepy. Well about 10 minutes ago I opened the back door to let Lena in and she raced in and dropped one of the baby birds that was now dead on the floor in the house!!!! YUCK!!!!! What is wrong with that damn dog! So when I went to sweep it up she grabbed it again and ran all over with it trying to hide it. She hates it when I take her toys. Finally I got it away from her and got it thrown away. YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!

The Trip That Didn't Happen

Well who want to go to Greece anyways! What a lame place to visit right. Due to the holiday weekend the only way I could make the insurance claim on our trip cancelation was to do it today. And since they haven't even worked on Darby and I's passport since the 18th of May that seemed the only reasonable solution.

Our insurance covers the trip portion but not airfare. So that will probably be another 1100-1400 bucks to reschedule it but Heather is insisting that she is paying for it. With a baby on the way and student loans there is no way I can come up with that much money again. I feel sick that we won't be going with Heather and Kelci but I know they will have a great time. Darby and I may end up doing an entirely different trip. Greece has left a bad taste in my mouth. Brazil may be the way to go!

I keep telling myself that this happened for a reason. My favorite saying is "God doesn't make mistakes." So I'm wondering if this will be the week I get a call about a baby. Or maybe I will go to my friend Erica's wedding that I thought I would miss while I was in Greece and meet the man of my dreams. Who knows what next week holds but obviously I wasn't supposed to be in Greece. So good old Kansas I'm here to stay!

Not Looking Good

Well the passport situation is not looking good. I spent most of the day yesterday on the phone with the passport agency and the rest of the day bawling. I had resigned myself to the fact that we wouldn't be going. I went to bed feeling sad but okay about it.

Then this morning Darby called all over the place and finally spoke with a consulate officer in Houston. He said that he could get our passports for us today or tomorrow and overnight them to us. So we tried that route and my hopes went soaring through the roof.

Well tonight when I talked to him he said that he wasn't able to get the passports today. He is going to try again tomorrow. He said that there are lines of hundreds of people in Houston, out in the streets waiting for passports. He said that they officers in the passport facility are not wanting to work with the consulate anymore because it upsets the other people that have waited all day. So he will try again tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath that it will work. I'm just sick about this!!!

We spent thousands of dollars on this trip. This was the one frivolous thing we wanted to do with our inheritance. Now it's looking like it's really frivolous. Heather and Kelci have their passports so they are going no matter what. I'm not letting them lose their money too. Darby and I will have to reschedule it if possible but the dates for that don't look real great either. What a mess, a nightmare, and a disappointment.

Most of all I'm angry. We applied for our passports in February and they told us 6-8 weeks. I thought maybe 10 or 12. Well we are way passed that. This just isn't right. It's amazing to me how easily people get into this country and I can't get the hell out! I'm so mad I'm shaking, my stomach hurts, and I'm broken out in hives.

Panic

Okay the panic of no passports is setting in. I'm officially having an anxiety attack. I don't know why this has just now hit me. Everyone else has been worried for weeks... But I just realized that there is no mail delivery on Monday because it is a holiday. So that eliminates one more day that is a possible arrival day for passports. Our window of opportunity is getting smaller and smaller. Thank god I paid extra for that travel insurance!!!

One Week

Well one week from today and we will be on a plane heading for Greece! Hard to believe. I've been trying to get everything squared away at work so I won't have to worry about anything while I'm gone. I've never taken this long of a vacation before so there is a lot to prepare. Crazy!

We still haven't received our passports yet. This is a little worrisome. I call everyday and everyday they say the same thing. We will request that they expediate them and you need to call back tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers and saying a little prayer that they show up in time. We applied in February and then they said 6-8 weeks. It's been 15 weeks now and no passports... What a mess...

Mission Accomplished

Well the flower bed is done for the most part! I got the dirt hauled, the bulbs planted and 10 bags of mulch in there. I even watered it. I have a bench that I want to put in there but it was to heavy for me to move alone so I'll have to wait for Heather to get home to do that part. But I'm so glad it is done!

I put all bulbs in this bed. That way I won't have to redo it all again, just add to it in the future. I put in Elephant Ears, Cannas, several different kids of Lillies, Phlox, Anemones, Dahlias and Bleeding Hearts. Now I just have to wait for it all to bloom. It should be very pretty.

The neighbor boy is going to water my flowers while I am in Greece. He is such a sweet boy and pretty responsible. He loves it when I give him "jobs". I told him when I was going and said that next weekend we could walk thru it all and I can show him what he needs to do. But the kid is so stinking excited he keeps coming over and asking me when I'm going to "that place" so he can work. He even told me today that he doesn't want to get paid and he would practice tonight. So I let him water the flowers in the front yard while I worked in the back. Funny kid.

I'm thinking I'll probably give him 20 bucks and bring him something cool back from Greece. It's a big job. I'll be gone 8 days and I have lots of flowers. So it will keep him busy for sure.

Shout Outs

I gave this shout out on my other blog Making Of A Mom earlier today. But I think this blog is so cool I've got to repeat it!

Leah is a young girl that is trying to gather the same amount of pennies as their are orphans in Africa. If you know anything about Africa you will know that there are a lot of orphans so she needs a lot of pennies! She has a great blog and gives weekly updates about the number of pennies she has colected so far. Make sure you stop by and pay her a visit at her blog change4orphans.com!

What Am I Thinking!

I woke up this morning and I really wanted to just stay in bed. I'm so sore from moving so much stuff the past two day. But no I got up. I thought I ought to do laundry but that didn't sound like fun. And laying on the couch all day isn't really an option.

So since I hurt already I decided I would go work in the yard. I had a dump truck full of dirt delivered Saturday. It's a huge pile of dirt. I need to fill in some flower beds, fill some gaps around the new fence, and level the yard so I can reseed grass. So I thought I would conquer the flower beds today so I could finish up my planting... Easier said than done!!!

First who knew dirt is so damn heavy? Shovels are heavy too but what sucks is they don't hold much. So it takes forever to fill the wheelbarrow and then it's way heavy to move. I've done 10 wheelbarrel fulls already and the first flower bed isn't filled yet! UGH!!!

And since our lovely swimming pool collapsed the yard is still a little swampy and well I've got mud all over. It's not pretty here folks. Even the dog is crabby! I don't see why I attempt to do this crap. It's ridiculous. But there are only a few alternatives.

1. Don't worry about pretty grass and flower beds and just settle for a yard with patchy grass and not so many flowers... I'm not really feeling that though. I love having a pretty yard. In fact I'm obsessive about it. I want my yard to be the prettiest yard on the block. It's something I like.

2. Hire someone to do all this manual labor crap and just plant and water the flowers after they get done. Well I would do this if I was made of money. Some day if I'm rich I'm hiring a yard boy. I'm not playing. That is the first thing I would do if I won the lottery. Get a yard boy!!! But I can't afford to do that now so it looks like I'm hauling more dirt.

3. Find a husband and make him do it. If finding a husband was that easy I would probably have one by now. And knowing my luck I will end up marrying a great guy some day that knows jack squat about yard work or manly type things and I'll end up doing it anyways.

4. Wait for my dad to come home. Now this is the best solution of all. My Dad rocks. He could have probably had the dirt moved, the pool reset, the flowers planted, mulch down, mowed and washed my car in the time it has taken me to move the little bit of dirt I have. He just rocks like that. But my Dad isn't coming home till the end of June. So I at least have to get the flower beds done by then. Dad if your reading this PLEASE COME HOME TOMORROW!

Okay the pile of dirt is screaming my name and I've cooled off now and had some water so I'm going back at it. If I don't post for awhile it's because I'm laying dead in the yard by the dirt pile.

Attacking The Shop

Well Heather and I decided that we were no longer putting up with the cluttered cave of our shop anymore! We launched an attack this weekend and I think we won! We had a massive garage sale. We did incredibly well for throwing it together in just 48 hours. We ended up making right about $800 which is awesome. What's even better is you can actually walk in the shop now instead of using the aisles.

We ended up selling quite a bit of stuff. And then there were two truck loads of stuff that needed to go to the dump so that helped too. Now all that is left in there is some stuff that Heather is taking with her when she moves out, things for mom's siblings to go through and pick from, and some of mom's stuff that we want to keep. Well and all of the holiday decorations. The wonderful thing is that we can actually park Heather's car inside now! That is HUGE progress!!!

Now that the garage sale is over I am so sore and can hardly move but I've got some money and some space so I should just be happy about it. I'm gonna spend the rest of the evening laying on my couch I do believe!

Goodys

Before Darby decided she needed to become a nurse she was a social worker and we worked as a team. One perk of working as a team was that whenever we went out of town for work we would shop! We found this store called Goodys and fell in love! We always seemed to find amazing stuff that was cute and fairly cheap! We liked that. But since that was the good old days I haven't been to a Goodys in quite awhile.

Well today when I was over at couponchief.com I saw that they have lots of coupons for Goodys! I didn't even know that Goodys sold stuff online so now I'm totally excited. I can't wait to tell Darby. Now shopping at Goodys isn't just good fun but I can get some good deals with my Goodys coupons!!!

4.0

Final grades were posted this morning! For this semester I ended up with all A's!!!! I'm thrilled and shocked. I was praying for a B in research. That class was hard and I really struggled throughout the semester. But an A is what was listed! So luckily I get to keep my 4.0! I've never been a very good student. In high school and undergrad I just did the bare minimum and pretty much hated school. Now that I'm in grad school the work is harder but it's all stuff I'm interested in for the most part. Seeing that it will actually benefit me motivates me and makes getting A's easier. And the best part with the A's is that for each A my job will pay back 75% of my tuition. That is awesome!

Okay back to work!!!

2 Weeks

Two weeks from now I will be on an airplane heading for Greece!!! How amazing is that. I can't believe I am actually typing that. I AM GOING TO GREECE!!!! If you can't tell I'm starting to get excited. We got our travel paperwork from the travel agency yesterday and that made it all real for me! What is crazy is that in the paperwork it said that we are only allowed on piece of luggage and a carry-on! YIKES! 8 days and one real piece of luggage. I don't go to Texas for 5 days with only one piece of luggage so another country for 8 days is gonna be a bit interesting. We may end up having to pay extra for additional luggage or something. But who cares really? I'M GOING TO GREECE!!!!

Jessie

Just Say No

Well "Just Say No" is a great slogan but my clients show me on a daily basis that saying no is a lot harder than it sounds. Rehabs around here are hard to get into. There is often a waiting list or the centers don't have the services my clients need. I'm always looking for a solution.

There is a site out there to help. If you are trying to identify a drug rehab this is the site for you. I have visited there site and was pretty impressed with it. So I thought I would test the system out. I called the number, yes it's actually 1-800-nodrugs. A very helpful lady answered in two rings. She was able to provide me with information about several treatment centers in my area including the services they provide. I was impressed! I'm telling everyone at work about this tomorrow. It made the information gathering process so much easier.

Sister Saga

Well if you haven't caught on from the majority of my previous posts I'll fill you in on a little secret. My sister Heather and I always have crazy weird things happen to us. The simplest task or trip turns into some huge outlandish production. Today of course is no different.

Heather and I talked several times yesterday. It was Mother's Day and obviously since it's our first one without mom we were a bit upset. The day started out rough and by 10 last night we were both a wreck. Heather had been planning to stay at school for another week and just hang out with friends but by the end of last night she was begging to come home and I wanted her here.

So bright and early this morning I headed out to get her and all of her stuff. Thank God I bought an SUV. We had it crammed full and her car crammed full. Seriously her plants were not only filling the passenger side of my car but were spilling over into the drivers seat too. I felt like I was driving through a jungle. How one kid accumulates so much stuff in a year I'll never know.

When we got home we realized that the majority of her stuff needed to go in the shop but it's too full. So we decided we would take all the bags of clothes out of the shop and take them to the salvation army to donate. Good plan right. Well 1 1/2 hours later and 29 bags and boxes full we had enough room to put her stuff in. And again the SUV and the car were crammed to the brim now with donations!!!

By the time we were done with that we were so hot we couldn't stand it anymore. It was 91 degrees here today! And we decided that the only sensible solution was to buy a pool. So at 5:00 we bought a pool. The box said that it could be assembled in three easy steps. It also said "30 minutes and it's water ready". We I don't know who the hell can do it in 30 minutes but it wasn't us. We also maybe bought a pool a bit to big for the yard. Because we had to move a flower bed, level out the ground and then get started setting it up. Remember it's 91 degrees and I'm fat! This is not a pretty project!!!

So at 8:15 yes 3 hours not 30 minutes later it was water ready. And now in about an hour it has 4 inches of water in it. It's gonna take all night to fill up. So much for swimming today. We are exhausted. Actually passed exhausted. But dang that pool is gonna be nice!!!

Ty Pennington

Well I have loved me some Ty Pennington for years. I loved him on Trading Spaces and I loved him even more on Extreme Home Makeover. The boy is cute and he has mad skills and he is funny! Three things I LOVE in a guy!!! Well today he falls closer to the bottom of my dream guy list rather than hovering at the top like he used too. It seems he got arrested for a DUI. Not cool Ty! Drinking and Driving is a HUGE turnoff. Shame on you!

Jessie

Fun Site

There is this great site called bid4prizes that cracks me up! They have all kinds of fun prizes and the kicker is that instead of the high bidder winning the lowest unique bidder actually wins the prize! That means that I would even have a chance and I never win anything!

One of the prizes right now is a BMW 3 Series. I would love to have that! I love my new car but seriously a BMW! I would love to be driving a BMW around town. No one would ever believe it. Right now the bidding for it is between 88-108 cents. So my unique low bid for a BMW would be a startling 92 cents! What do you think the chances are that I will win it? So go check out the site but don't be bidding against me on the BMW!

Jessie

More Money

Well my air conditioner isn't working properly so the repair man is here now. Hopefully it will help and he can fix it. But of course it will cost more money! YUCK!!!! I'm sick of spending money on not fun things. I've never spent so much money on repairs in my life. This house and my old car are killing me. Being a grown up is no fun sometimes.

A Shift

Boy how things change in a week. Last weekend I was so stressed out trying to get all my homework done before the end of the semester. This weekend has been so nice and relaxing! I like this way so much more!!!

Yesterday I went and got flowers so I could get them planted. I got hanging baskets done, and the front flower beds done. I got the back flower beds cleaned out and then it started raining. It hasn't stopped yet so I haven't finished up. Maybe next weekend. I also got the items I need to build another flower bed in the backyard. I can't wait to get it all landscaped and pretty. Then I'll post pics to show you all the new fence and flowers. Good times. I'm also having dirt hauled in so I can level out some spots in the yard and reseed. The small ponds throughout the yard make it pretty obvious that I have some low spots.

Today I worked on my bedroom. Mainly my closet and dresser. I ended up with three huge bags of clothes to take to the salvation army tomorrow. I also got all my laundry done which I was way behind on, my shoes (I have too many) organized, and the closet rearranged for summer stuff in the front. Surprisingly that only took me about 1 1/2 hours. Now I wish I hadn't put it off. I kept thinking I didn't have time to do it during school and then it didn't take that long at all.

I have gotten caught up on most the shows I have recorded. I only have 6% taken up in my DVR now instead of 72%. I have gotten caught up on the three most recent People magazines, and I'm reading a book for fun not work or school! What a great weekend!!! I even got all my recycling stuff sorted so I can take it to be dropped off this week.

I had forgotten how nice it is to have just work and home stuff. No school. I feel so much calmer, more organized, less nervous and anxious! I like it a lot. It makes me kinda reconsider my plans to keep going to school full time. I wonder if I ought to cut back to part time. Feeling sane is worth a lot!!!

So I'm off to relax with my enjoyable book now!

The Shoe Mission

Well last week I told you about Yoel, the little guy trying to get shoes for the people in his village in Ethiopia. Well Yoel is making great progress. His goal now is to get 200 pairs of crocs/clogs to take with him to Ethiopia in a couple months to give to all the people in his village. I asked you all to help by sending the shoes to Yoel. Several of you have done so and I thought you ought to see the happy guy that is opening all of your packages as they arrive.

If you feel moved to help Yoel accomplish his shoe mission you can send the crocs to Yoel Lees, 922 Bradford Greens CT NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525. He is accepting all colors and sizes of crocs.

Thanks for considering it!

Broken Cars Buying Cars

Well my car decided to break this morning. Actually the water pump decided to break. And since I've already spent close to $2000 on the car in the past 4 months I decided I was at my breaking point. There have been all kinds of ads in the paper lately for great sales on program cars and I decided I was gonna go see what kind of a deal I could find. I found a great one!

So after some bargaining I purchased a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer. It is off white and is fully loaded. I love it! The thing I love the most is that it is only going to cost me $12.00 more a month than my Grand Am payment on a 3 year note! So bye bye Grand Am with your bad water pump! I go pick up the new vehicle tomorrow morning. I wanted the oil changed and a couple other things done to it so I didn't bring it home tonight.

Earn More

I'm always looking for a way to save a buck or two. In fact my savings account is becoming more and more important as the time for a new baby draws closer. Kids are expensive and I'm trying to save as much as I can ahead of time to ease the burden. Well one way to make a little money on your savings is to look into online banking. Lots of online banking sites offer much higher interest rates than a traditional bank does. Since online banking is new to a lot of people there is a handy site out there that can help you find the best rates! Online banking interest rate comparisons at SavingsAccounts.com will help you find the best high yield online savings account or checking account. I've found the site helpful and the extra money never hurts!

May Day Take Two

Well I was just sitting here feeling a little sorry for myself missing mom and the door bell rang. It was mom's best friend Doreen and another of her friends Carol. They had brought me a May Day basket and some hugs! It was so nice to see them. It just made me feel so much better. It's like mom sent some little angels to brighten my day. They are such thoughtful ladies! I really should be more grateful. I may not have my mom but I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many caring people. I'm so much more fortunate than others out there. So I'm off to enjoy my newest bag of flowers and candy!!!

Happy May Day

Well when I woke up this morning I was still a bit cranky about the bad day yesterday but that all turned around pretty quick. When I pulled out of the garage to leave for work I saw some stuff on my door. So I got out and the neighbor kids had left me May Day Baskets!!! I haven't gotten a May Day Basket in a couple of years and it made my day. Both of the baskets had flowers and some candy in them. It was so nice of them to do that for me. I have good neighbors!

When I was a little girl my mom always helped me make May Day baskets and we would take them to the neighbors house. I always loved doing it and so did my mom. She was pretty crafty and always made the most beauiful baskets I thought. Looking back I realize that we just used construction paper and ribbon and flowers and candy but I thought they were amazing. I had a cool mom that's all that matters anyway. I can't wait to do May Day Baskets with my own kids. Good times!

So Happy May Day To You All!!!
