Wonderful Wednesday

Today was a really good day! Libby came back to work and I feel like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. It is really wonderful to have her at the office. Today she started wading through all her emails and staffing cases with her staff so she will be back in the game in no time. I'm so excited to just get back to my regular responsibilities.

School was good today too. My prof actually got my name right! I'm no longer Jancy. That rocks. I have a lot of homework to do this week so hopefully the weekend will be pretty quiet so I can get a lot done. I just love writing papers. :-) That's always good times.

American Idol is about to start so I gotta run.

I Made It

I've been covering a lot of extra responsiblities at work for the past 12 weeks. The other supervisor has been on maternity leave. But Libby is coming back to work tomorrow. This has been an incredibly long twelve weeks. Lots of hours, lots of work, lots of stress. But I made it through and so did all our staff. In a way it's been a good experience because I've really learned how to manage many different things at once. I've learned how to delegate and ask for help when needed. So there were lots of benefits but I'm sure glad Libby is coming back tomorrow! It's going to be a wonderful Wednesday!

Bad Restaurant

Today we had our group staffing at work and then we all went to lunch together. It's not very often that all of us can go eat out together anymore so we were all really psyched. We picked one of our favorite restaurants and one that is known for being fast since we had a limited time to eat before our afternoon appointments all started.

So we got to the restaurant at 11:30 and there were only 3 other people there. We ordered drinks and the drinks came. But all the sodas were nasty! All it tasted like was carbonation. It was really bad. So the drinks got sent back and new drinks came and we ordered our food. It's now 11:45. Time starts ticking by and the food doesn't come, refills don't come, but more people come in. By 12:25 the restaurant is full and the people beside us are starting to get their food even though they have only been there about 15 minutes.

At 12:30 the waitress comes over and tells us the grill is full so it will be awhile???? What it's already been awhile. Then at 12:50 we see her approach with food. Yeah we are gonna eat. But no not everyone. Two people in our group got their food but no silverware because they are "out of clean silverware"! Again WHAT???? So we had to wait until other people finished eating so she could wash the silverware and give it to us.

The last person in the group to get their food was me and it came at 1:15. I was not impressed. By then the first person in the group was done eating so I got to use her fork. It's nice that we are all good at sharing. We asked to speak to the manager and he wouldn't come out to speak to us. He told the waitress to tell us that he wouldn't charge us for the soda and that usually they automatically add gratuity for groups of 8 or more but he wouldn't do that.

That's the part that really ticked me off. Basically he was going to punish the waitress for the kitchen not managing orders and time well. It's not her fault they screwed up. We ended up tipping her pretty well anyway but I was really not impressed. We won't be going back there again obviously but I thought he was pretty chicken shit for not talking to us. Ridiculous!

My food wasn't even that good after the whole wait and I've thrown up three times since we have eaten lunch. I don't know if I'm getting the stomach flu or if it was bad food. Who knows. The point is just don't eat at Wings!

Regrouping

I think I've gotten regrouped after the newest disaster. I only worked half days at work yesterday and today. That way I would have a little time to myself to rest up, get caught up, and get back to normal. It's been nice to sleep in and do some of the things that make me feel good. I think I'll be able to head back to the office on Monday feeling ready and focused.

This weekend I have to go work an independent living retreat for the older foster kids we serve. It's just Saturday that I have to work so it won't be bad. The kids are usually pretty fun and honestly they pretty much run the meetings and events. I just need to be around to supervise and make sure they don't do anything crazy. They are really a good bunch of kids so that means I don't really have to do much.

Heather is coming home again tomorrow. I'm gonna get spoiled on seeing her every few days now. She wants to make sure I'm okay. Also we have our sister-in-law Amanda's birthday party on Sunday. So she has to come home for cake and ice cream and gifts.

I'm also going to meet with another expectant mother tomorrow evening. I know it's really soon after the last failed match. Only a few days. But I've got to keep pushing forward. So I'm going to the meeting and we will see what happens. What's that saying, God doesn't close a door without opening a window. Maybe this is my window. I wouldn't want to risk not checking out the view.

Ice Storm

There is a big old ice storm a coming through. It's been raining and freezing like crazy. Not pretty. There are a lot of people already without power so I'm preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. I've got my flashlights and candles ready. I've got food and water and a good book. It's gonna be fine.

I've been watching the news too see if SRS will be closed tommorow. I'm crossing my fingers and toes. If SRS is closed then we can close our office which would make me a happy girl. I hate getting out in crummy weather. While I was watching all the closings roll across the screen I noticed that the Topeka Driving School is canceling there classes tomorrow. SHOCKING! Why would they even list that. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that if there is an inch of ice on the roads they aren't going to try and teach people how to drive. Fools!

Wacky Week

What a wacked out week. It has flown by and I feel like I've gotten nothing accomplished. It's been pure chaos at the office and I'm working all weekend so no break until Turkey Day. That sucks but it will make Thursday feel wonderful!

I honestly feel like my brain is fried and I can't even think of anything to blog about.....

Vacation Over

My time off work has come to an end! It was hard to go back to the office today but I survived. I have so much to get caught up on. I love getting time off but hate the going back. My desk gets scary when I'm away!

Tonight I worked late, Shocking I know. Then I came home and watched a weeks worth of Days of Our Lives that I had on the DVR. I don't ever watch the whole episodes. I probably watch about 20 minutes of an hour show. I fast forward through the people I don't like. I know that's bad but why waste time on folks and stories you don't like. I just stick with the good parts and skip the rest.

While I was watching my soap I guess Lena got bored. She chewed all the way through my cell phone charger cable. Not a good deal! That dog kills me. She is almost 2 years old yet she still acts like a puppy. I just don't understand it!

Monday Madness

Work was good today. Shocking for a Monday. But I went to the office and worked for about 4 hours yesterday when no one else was there. That helped a ton! I was able to get caught up on quite a few things and really felt good about the start of the week because of it. I even got to spend four hours today training with our new employee. She is gonna be really good I think and it was nice to actually have the uninterupted time to train with her.

However, since I've been home it's been a nightmare. My cable was again not working when I got home and I've been on the phone with the internet folks half the evening. So annoying! I thought my internet problems would be over when I got away from dial up but I guess not. It drives me crazy. Now that I'm online I need to be in bed....

Don't forget tomorrow is weigh day for those participating in the Blogging Biggest Loser Challenge. I'm looking forward to weighing this week. I did good over the weekend and today so hopefully it helped!

Sunday Prep

With this new position at work I've realized that I have zero free time during the week. In fact just getting normal things like meal preparations and house cleaning done are next to impossible. So since I'm sick of feeling so out of control I decided to try something new this week. I'm calling it Sunday prep.

What I did was go through my planner for the week and figure out what I have coming up at work. I also checked the 7 day forecast and then arranged outfits for me to wear for the next week. Since I do all my laundry on Saturday this was pretty easy. I just put everything I would need for each day on one hanger, sat the shoes below it and even included jewlery and hair items. That should save some time.

Then I decided to tackle the food problem. When I'm rushed I tend to eat junk. Which means I'm probably going to gain this week instead of lose in the blogging biggest loser competition. It also means that my blood sugar isn't good and I feel like crap! So I did my weekly meal plan went shopping and then premade as much as I could today.

I have tuna salad and chicken salad made for lunch. I even diced up my veggies and shreeded the lettuce so I just have to throw it together. I bagged up my grapes in individual serving bags, as well as some pickles, raisins, and nuts. I have my fruit in individual bags for smoothies in the morning so no need to measure just add them to my choclate soy milk and blend. Then for dinners I have the meat in individual bags that I will just have to remeber to dethaw and I have my veggies already bagged up so I just have to warm them. Hopefully this will help. I even have a bag ready to take to work for this week of healthy snacks.

So we will see what next week brings. I hope it will help keep me on track and reduce some of my stress! Let's cross our fingers....

20,000

Wow I checked my hits today and I'm almost at 20,000 visitors. By this time tomorrow I will be over 20,000 visits. That's so crazy. Who would have thought that people would come visit that much. Kinda cool kinda creepy weird. Go figure.

Work is crazy. I'm just so lost. I try really hard and I think I'm doing okay. But every day there is something that comes up that I don't know and I'm lost again. According to the palm reader it should be better in about 12-18 months! Are you kidding me. I was hoping for 6 or 8 more crazy weeks but no. I was asking Libby the other supervisor about it today. And she said that the palm reader is right and I'm wrong. She said to not count on it getting much easier for quite awhile. She said it took her at least a year to get comfortable so I guess I've got a long wait ahead of me. Hopefully I won't suck to much in the meantime.

Off to do homework!

What A Monday

Today was my first day back at work since fighting the sickness. It really wore me out. I think I'm gonna crash in just a few minutes. My little eyes can barely stay open. Even though it was a long day and I am really behind it was so nice to be back. I miss all my work people when I'm away. I guess I thrive on the drama...

We got a new Blogging Biggest Loser contestent today! Eileen is joining the group. Eileen if you have a blog I would love to link to it so just let me know if you do. If not I'll just link to your blogger profile. Either way is fine. We are all just glad to have you so WELCOME!

Tomorrow is the big way in day. I'm a little nervous. I have a feeling that it won't be pretty for me. When I don't get exercise in I don't tend to do so well. And this week the only exercise I got was coughing. I am excited to see how everyone else did though. So make sure to weigh in and I'll post everything tomorrow night.

We have our supervisors meeting at work tomorrow and Wednesday. Our manager usually has us work pretty late so I might not get to post till late tomorrow night. We will have to see how it goes. I am gonna TiVo the actual show so I can watch it later.

If anyone else would like to join the challenge just let me know. We would love to have you!

And The Battle Begins

The online Blogging Biggest Loser competition kicked off on Tuesday. But at my office we started a biggest loser competition today! We all weighed in and the race is on. We are a competitive group of fat people around there. I think we will all do pretty good. When we do things as a group we do much better. When it's just one person on a diet we tend to accidentally sabotage with yummy treats. So we will see how it goes.

In exciting work news I've now figured out a bit of a routine. I don't feel as stressed about everything. I just make my to do list and try to stick to it. I have figured out I need to keep at least two hours a day unscheduled to handle questions, emergencies, etc. As long as I don't overbook things seem to go pretty smooth. Hopefully the worst of the transition is over now.

I'm off to watch Days of our Lives before I go to bed. I love that DVR!

Chickens

The supervisors position at work is rather interesting. Granted this is my first full week at it so I expected it to be a bit challenging. However, it's stranger than I imagined. Today at about 4:15 it hit me that being a supervisor must be very similar to being pecked to death by chickens. Not incredibly painful however it is painfully annoying. Everyone has questions all the time, no one has boundaries, and everyone could learn a little bit about patience. At one point today I just closed my door and locked it for 10 minutes so I could check email without being interupted. Tomorrow my goal is to sneak to the bathroom twice throughout the day so I don't almost pee my pants on the way home!

Call Me Boss

Well they offered me the supervisor job today and I accepted it. I figured up my budget last night and realized how much more money I'd be making. That sealed the deal for me. The fact that I can put more in savings and pay extra on my car payment makes me a happy girl or well a happy boss!

So now they have posted my current position and as soon as it is filled I will move over into my new position. Hopefully it will be a quick and easy transition.

Interview

Today I had my interview for the supervisors position at work. I really went into the interview relaxed. I don't have to have the job and honestly I'm not really sure I even want it. I love the position I have now and don't have a burning desire to change positions though I would love the increase in pay.

I didn't think the interview went all that great. I answered all their questions quickly and very honestly. A couple of times their eyes got big and they looked shocked at my answers so I didn't think that was the best sign. I'm pretty blunt and honest and I cut to the chase. Not to sure that's what they were looking for.

However, after the interview I was telling my boss about my answers and how it went and she just started laughing. She said they looked shocked because I gave all the right answers. I guess they are looking for someone that doesn't beat around the bush... Who knew my abrasiveness at times could be a benefit. She also said that my questions and concerns impressed them because it showed I was putting a lot of thought into the position and showed that I was being realistic about the potential barriers. Go figure!

So now I'm way confused. Though I had fun in the interview and it was a great experience I really don't know for sure what they thought. It will be a week before they make a decision so now I just get to wait and enjoy my current job. And then if they do offer me the position I have to decide if I really want it...

Catch Up

Well I feel as if I need to play catch up. So much is going on right now and I'm having a hard time keeping track of it all... Obviously I haven't blogged in awhile and that is a problem for me. Blogging helps me keep things in perspective, be accountable, and not get so overwhelmed... Obviously by not blogging I'm a bit of a crazy woman right now! Maybe I can get it straightened out today.

Work!

I have so much to get done at the office! We are in the middle of preparing for a huge Federal audit. Federal audits are a big deal and very stressful. So I'm trying to get my own files perfected as well as help everyone else. We are still short staffed I'm stuck doing a lot of things I wouldn't usually be doing. Add my practicum on top of that and I'm feeling as if I live at my office. Not fun right now. But I did have my anniversary at my job so I got my lovely bonus check. By the time taxes were taken out there wasn't much left but hey at least there was a little bit.

School!

My last day of classes is on April 30th! That seems forever away but really it's rapidly approaching. Which means I have a lot of work to get done before the end. I better make a To Do list so I don't forget anything.

Assignment 4 and 5 for my research class.
Final test for my research class.
Online article review for research.
6 workbook assignments for Assessment and Diagnosis.
Learning contract for summer for my practicum class.
Final eval for my practicum class.
Practicum proposal for next year's practicum.

That's a lot to do in the next five days!!!

Adoption!

I've now completed the additional paperwork and classes necessary for a domestic adoption. I had to make a little profile scrapbook thing for my social worker to show potential parents. That is SO intimidating!!! I have sent all of that off to my social worker for her review. She will critique my profile, make some changes and then send it back to me for corrections. Once I make those corrections then I'll get it laminated and bound and I'll mail it back to her. Once she has that then I will officially be waiting to be matched! Yippee!!! They seem to think it could be just a matter of weeks but for sure within the year that I'll be bringing a baby home.

Okay off to work I go!
