Wordless Wednesday- Footprints

More Snow

Well we got more snow! I can't believe it!!! We have about another 1 1/2 inches. We haven't had this much snow in years. It's kinda nice. I love snow but don't love the driving in it so much. Shockingly they are keeping the roads fairly clear!

Very busy day at work today. I have lots of cases getting very close to adoption finalizations and that makes for A LOT of paperwork. And now that I'm on the other side of it too I feel really overloaded with paperwork. I have spent several hours again this evening working on adoption paperwork for me so I'm about done for the day. My brain is on overload!

I did get my fingerprints done today. I was all nervous about it but it was fine. Not scary! The guy that did it was very nice and friendly. He did have to use regular ink, they don't have one of the fancy machines you see on tv. So my fingers were nice and black. It's amazing how much ink you get everywhere. But one thing checked off the to do list only about 827 left... :-)

Great Gift

I found a great gift idea! So many of my guy friends play poker now. Actually a lot of my female friends play poker too but the guys for sure out number them. So for those folks that do play poker I think Custom Poker Chips would be a great idea! Wouldn't that be fun. You could get their name, picture, company logo, favorite team, a symbol they like, the list is endless. It would be a fun way to personalize a gift that they would actually use!

Growing Mountain

And the mountain of paperwork grows! Darby went with me today to meet with the adoption agency doing my homestudy and I have a whole big notebook of paperwork to do now. Crazy!

The appointment was very exciting. They showed us pictures of a family that just brought home triplets yes I said triplets! They are the most adorable little boys I've ever seen. Too cute for words! No triplets for me but one cute healthy baby would make me a happy girl.

Found out at the meeting that since Heather lives with me she has to have the background checks and fingerprints done too! How funny is that. Heather getting fingerprinted. Hopefully we can get in at the police station on Saturday to get that done while she is home. Fun times! Who knew being an aunt required background checks.

So that's the exciting new developments in adoption land. Now I've got to get some homework done so I can focus on adoption stuff tomorrow night...

Darby!

This is Caden and he wants you to visit his Mommy's blog! Yes it's true, Darby also known as my Darbis finally has a blog! I know it's about time!!! So you have to go visit her and tell her hi. You have to be super nice and encourage her so she doesn't quit this blogging stuff before the addiction sets in. So go visit Darby's Doings and tell her that her bestest friend sent you!

Jessie

The Paperwork Mountain

I think I'm officially living on paperwork mountain! I opened my mail about an hour ago and had a HUGE packet of paperwork to fill out from the adoption agency. I mean it's probably two inches thick not counting the 300 page adoption guide they sent that is just reading material. Wow I'm in for quite a ride and quite a bit of writers cramp I do believe.

Tomorrow I go meet with the social worker that is doing my home study. She is going to give me more paperwork! Yippeee So I'm going to spend my weekend doing paperwork. Fun times. What is really crazy is that someone somewhere is having sex right now and probably conceiving my baby and I'm filling out paperwork.... It amazes me that some people just have sex and get a baby out of the deal while others spend a large amount of time and money and energy waiting for a baby to arrive... Doesn't seem right ya know!

Playing Catch Up

A couple of the girls in my Assessment and Diagnosis class were talking about the soap All My Children today. They were upset that they had to be at class and were missing it. Obviously they didn't know about this site that has All My Children Spoilers. I told them about it. I visit almost daily to get the scoop on the soaps I watch or want to watch or miss and need to get caught up on. So maybe that will check it out. You know I do what I can to help my fellow soap watchers. There is nothing more frustrating than missing a couple days of the soap and then trying to get caught up on your own. With this site it's like you have never missed an episode because their write ups are so accurate and complete. Love that!

Long Day

Monday's are such long days for me. I have to be on the road by 6:30 for class and then I don't get home till 5:00 and have a bunch of stuff to do for work after that. Damn grad school interferes with my life! My class schedule is still kinda jacked up. I don't know when that is going to be fixed. I never would have imagined that enrolling would be such a pain.

I went and weighed in tonight and I was down .5. So only a half a pound. I guess that means I'll get 1/2 a shirt from Cricket. I'm not sure why it was only a 1/2. I did good this week but I guess my body is holding onto it. Who knows. Maybe next week will get me a big loss again...

That's what I know for now. Lena is being quiet and that is never a good sign. She must be doing something bad so I better go check...

Jessie

Hockey

Hockey kinda fascinates me. I think it is pretty amazing that people can ice skate with sticks and manage to whack a little puck into a net. I would totally tip over and end up breaking something. And not only can they skate but some of the guys can fight on skates which makes it even more exciting. How can you not love a sport like that?

There is an awesome message board that is all about hockey! I'm not the only one that is fascinated because they get a bunch of visitors and there are a lot of people on there with some strong opinions about their hockey. So go over and check out the NHL Forums. Ya might learn a thing or two.

Okay folks I'm still exercising for comments! I'm losing weight and you all are helping! Those comments that turn into minutes are making my butt smaller and that is a good thing! So keep them coming. For each comment you leave me I move for one minute. Those comment minutes are above and beyond my regularly scheduled exercise. The goal this week is to lose another 4 pounds!!! So start typing and get my butt a moving!

Eating My Words.....

Well I was going through some of my mom's things and found a note that I sent her exactly one year ago today. How weird is that? Here is what I wrote to her on January 27, 2006...

Mom-

Just wanted you to know that I love you and I'm thinking of you. I really believe that you are going to be okay. I so enjoyed having you stay with me and I miss you already. You can come be my roomie anytime! I love you! Jessie

I remember writing the note. She had stayed with me for a week after getting out of the hospital. At that time we didn't know she had cancer and I really thought maybe her pain and illness was from stress. She thought she might be dying.... Oh how wrong I was. Little did I know when I wrote it that not even a month later we would find out it was cancer... Crazy looking back. She probably thought I was an idiot when she read that note. She knew she was really sick...

Marketing

I always thought that marketing would be an interesting job. But I've never been the best salesperson. There are some people that can sell ice to Eskimos and I'm not one of those people. There is a guy out there that is so good at marketing that he actually convinced the people of Halfway Oregon to change their name to Half.com! Yes it's true. He wrote a book all about it and now he is actually a marketing speaker. He shares his story and his success with others.

Busy

What a busy day today! Lena was doing fine this morning so I went to work and ran all day. I had one appointment after another. Very busy for a Friday which is unusual. Usually I try to keep my Friday's pretty light and not schedule much but today was crazy. Just lots of different things going on. I will have to work for a little bit tomorrow but I'm looking forward to spending the rest of the weekend sleeping, doing homework and relaxing!

Piece # 30

Well it's that time again! A PayPerPost and HP puzzle hunt is going on. And luckily I happen to have piece #30. There are 48 pieces in all so the hunt could go on for awhile. But hopefully throwing this one out there will help someone. I'm not going to participate in this hunt. While I could for sure use the $1000. Yes the first person to put all the pieces together gets $1000, amazing I know! I just don't have time to do it now. I'm gonna spend most of the weekend doing homework so I better not even start trying to find the pieces or I will become obsessed. I'll just post them as I come across them for you all!

The pictures this time around are of Michelle and her family. Michelle won a HP Camera awhile back. So now that she has had some time to use it and take advantage of the great Digital Photo Printing HP offers they broke her pictures up and they are now pasted all over the web for everyone to find. So good luck and happy hunting! Just in case you hadn't figured it out this post and this amazing puzzle hunt is brought to you by the folks at HP.

Lena Update

Well the sick puppy has been healed! I picked her up from the vet and they said that I should still stay home with her tomorrow. She was really calm in the car so I thought she was still not feeling well. But we have been home 45 minutes and she has been running nonstop! I think she is gonna be alright. If she is still like this in the morning I'm going to work. I think she was trying to get sympathy points at the vets office or something because she is up to her usual antics here.. Crazy dog!

Jessie

Days and more Days

Last night I watched 3 episodes of Days of Our Lives that I had Tivo'd. I had gotten behind but I'm all caught up now. Nothing like watching three hours of Days all in a row... I did however use the Days of our Lives updates on www.soaps.com yesterday afternoon before I watched the shows. I couldn't wait and had to know what was going on just in case I didn't have time to watch them. I love that they give such good updates on the site. It's the one place I know I can go to find the updates quickly and accurately.

Sick Puppy

Well Miss Lena is sickly. She has an infection of some kind. So she is hanging at the vet today. They are doing IV antibiotics and then I can pick her up when I get off work but I have to stay home with her tomorrow. Darn I have to use a sick day! So sad!!! Hopefully she will be doing better when I go to pick her up this evening. She scared me a little this morning.

Got Money?

Oh my gosh! This is cracking me up!!! There is actually a dating site now that will set you up with rich people! So if you want to Date A Millionaire it might be the site for you. The whole online dating thing has gotten crazy! There is a dating site for everything isn't there. I've heard that old saying about money can't buy you love. But I know it can buy you one hot girlfriend... or it can make an ugly one cute! Too funny!!!

Missing Hair

I'm gonna have to file a police report... My hair is missing. I went for a trim and something happened. There isn't much hair left. No don't freak out.. It's not all short and spiked or something like that. But it's just long enough to get in a ponytail. It's kinda like a bob... Don't know what that is about. The color is fantastic but I need some more layers or something. It's to bobbish for me. Makes my face look way big. So I'm gonna call tomorrow and see about getting some layers chopped in there to soften it up a bit. That's the plan.

Jessie

The New Girl

We have a new girl at our office. She has been here a couple months now. But our turnover is high enough that I don't really start paying attention to new people until they have been at the office for a couple months. I just don't like to do all the getting to know you work if they are just gonna quit in a couple weeks. Yes I know it's probably mean but well I'm just mean...

Anyways the new girl (K) hasn't left. So I'm trying to get to know her... This is what I've found out.

1. Her husband is in the military
2. They like to participate in those reenactment things.
3. For her wedding they all dressed in renaissance things and he wore a skirt thing.
4. They took a honeymoon trip to Bulgaria.
5. She has a horse that is 3 years old and she still calls it a "pony".
6. She likes watermelon.
7. She eats oatmeal every morning for breakfast
8. She is a perfectionist.
9. Someday she wants buy Property in Bulgaria.
10.She drives 2 hours round trip everyday to get to our office.

So that's what I know about the new girl...

Cricket's Buying More Clothes!

Well I went and weighed in tonight and I'm down another 5 pounds!!! That takes me to a grand total of 9. Which means that so far Cricket will be buying me 9 items of clothing when she comes home!!! Yeah for me! This whole WW thing is really working well. That makes me oh so happy. Skinny girl going to Greece... that's the plan!

Jessie

Pay Day

Well for the first time in a long time I don't have to live paycheck to paycheck. Payday doesn't seem as far away as it used too. Thank God for promotions. Goodbye to the days of praying that somehow I could get a payday advance. And now I don't even have to consider a payday loan. But some people still do have a payday that seems forever away and if that's the case the sponsor of this post might be able to help you get a Payday Cash Advance Loans.

Jessie

School Blues

Okay I had my first day of classes on campus today. I thought I was all ready to go back to school but now I'm not so sure. First my schedule is totally jacked up. I thought I was supposed to have classes from 8-1. So then I'd have the rest of the day to work. Well no... Now I have a class from 8-10:45 and then another from 1-3:45. So my whole work day is pretty much shot! I'm not pleased.

And I miss my mom. This is the first time I've gone to school on the first day of classes and she hasn't been around. I know that seems silly but if you knew my mom you would understand. My mom has this thing where on the first day of classes she always takes our picture. It doesn't matter if it is the first day of kindergarten or the first day of grad school. She always did it no matter what. And then as soon as classes were over she would expect a full report. She loved the first day of school! So today there was no pictures, there was no good luck at school call, there was no one to report to and share my syllabus with. So I miss her.

Jessie

Soaps

Okay I'm a little addicted to Days Of Our Lives. I watch everyday. Well I TiVo it and watch it in the evenings. Phillip has a new face now and MiMi has different looking hair. John is in a coma and Steve is flipping out. It's the on going saga that I love. The Days addiction is passed down from the women in my family. We have all watched and sworn at some point we were going to stop watching but we don't. We keep tuning in and taking part...

Well now I've come across this awesome site that I've got bookmarked. It covers all the Soap Opera out there but I love the stuff about Days. They give a daily summary in case you miss something. I need that. What if my Tivo gets full and it doesn't record. I wouldn't want to get behind. While they happen to be sponsoring this post I've had them bookmarked for awhile. I think it's awesome that they are finally promoting their site more. It's a great resource for those days you just don't have time to tune in for an hour. So check them out!

And if you have happened upon my blog from the carnival please leave comments so I can come visit you too!

Movie Reviews

Watched a couple movies this weekend. I watched Flight 93, the one that is obviously about the plane that crashed in Pennsalvania on 9/11. I really wasn't impressed with it at all! In fact I was pretty disappointed. I don't feel like it portrayed some of the passengers on the plane in a very accurate way. I don't know maybe it was just me but I didn't like it. Have any of you seen it? What did you think?

I also watched the walmart movie, the High Cost of Low Price. Seriously everyone should have to watched this documentary. I've never been a big fan of Wal-Mart. Actually I've called it the anti-christ for years. But now I'm really not impressed. So I'm gonna see how long I can make it before I go to Wal-Mart again. I just have a bad taste in mouth after seeing some of the really dirty things they do to their employees and the environment. Doesn't make me happy. So please visit the movie website here. Make sure you watch the movie!

More Snow

Well I guess more snow is on it's way. I'm just praying that it is actually snow and more ice. The ice we had last week hasn't even thawed yet. Snow is so much easier to get around in versus the ice. That and a nice snowfall would be awfully pretty. And watching Lena in it would be way funny!

I'm going to spend the day on homework I do believe. I have quite a bit of stuff already. Funny how that happens. I forgot how much school cuts into my life. Only three more semesters though. It can be done. That's what TiVo is for. I may end up watching about 20 episodes of Dirt at the semester break. :-)

Speaking of Dirt have any of you been watching that? It has Courtney Cox and I've heard rumors that Jennifer Aniston may be coming on board too. I'm really loving the show! The supporting cast is pretty good and it's edgy. Kinda reminds me of Nip/Tuck without the surgeries....

Okay homework is calling. I'm gonna be good and get at it.

Home Security

Sometimes I get myself a little freaked out at night. Okay a lot of times I get myself a little freaked out. I think I've watched to many scary movies. I've been considering getting a security system. It would sure be nice to have. And I think I found the one for me! The sponsor of this post has a Security System that is affordable and offers all the features I would be interested in. The biggest selling point for me is the keychain remote. It serves as a panic button so you could hit the panic button and instantly activate the alarm and solicit help! Quick response that way. Just what I want.

Jessie

Raised The Bar

Okay my step mom Cricket has officially raised the bar. I've been exercising for comments, following my points, and writing down what I eat. All good things and I'm feeling good about it. Now Cricket has raised the bar! She left a comment on my sticky post above saying that she is giving new meaning to "shop till you drop". For ever pound I lose before she comes home next she is going to buy me one piece of clothing!!!! How freaking cool is that! I could end up with a whole new wardrobe before I go to Greece in May! That is some good motivation there. So keep the comments coming and lets see how many new clothes I can get!!!

Jessie

Blood Diamonds

Have you all seen the movie blood diamonds yet? It's the one with Leonardo that is getting huge reviews! It looks like it is going to be awesome. When they featured it on Oprah I was really impressed. I'm not such a huge fan of Leonardo DiCaprio but Dijimon Hounsou is one of my favorite actors. He is a really talented man. He plays Solomon in the movie.

The movie depicts the civil war in Sierra Leone in the 1990's and the story and effects of blood diamonds or conflict diamonds. The previews alone look very powerful. I'm sure it will keep people talking for awhile. Hopefully the movie will bring more attention to the issue of blood diamonds. Consumers really need to ask questions when they are buying diamonds. You can ask where diamonds are from and if they are conflict free. I would hope that consumers would take the time to ask a few simple questions and ask for a gaurantee before purchasing a diamond. I would hate to think that something so pretty on my finger could have such horrible effects on the lives of others. No piece of jewlery is worth that.

So the point of the day is to watch the movie... love you some Dijimon Hounsou... and don't buy blood diamonds!

So Tired

I think I must be coming down with a cold or something because I'm just so tired! I fell asleep on the couch at 8:15 watching Grey's Anatomy which is way weird. I love that show! So I'm thinking that I'm gonna go ahead and call it a night... Maybe if I sleep a lot tonight I'll be feeling all normal and wide awake tomorrow!!!

Big Day!

Well today is a big day for me. I was officially "accepted" by an adoption agency. So now I'm officially beginning the adoption process. Only 16-18 months and I'll have a baby! How weird is that. It's weird to know that a child will be arriving at your house around that far in advance. Most people know months ahead of time not a year and a half. I guess I won't be able to act suprised that way right...

I'm just really excited that I'm going to finally be able to move forward with this process. It's going to be a long journey and I'm sure at times it will be very frustrating. But I'm looking forward to every bit of it!

Jessie

Card Organization

Well I'm really trying to get better about being organized with my card sending. I have a big family and it's hard to remember everyone and I hate forgetting to send cards for birthdays. My mom was always really good about it so I'm trying very hard to get on top of things. So I have everyone listed on my calender now, I've also got a card organizer so now I have a ton of paper cards on hand for all occassions so even if I forget I can shoot one off at the last minute. So I'm getting better.

I am also utilizing online cards to help me out too. You can get free ecards and they are a lot of benefits to using them. You can schedule cards to be sent on certain days and times. The nice part about that is that way you can schedule them in advance to make sure they aren't late. And you don't have to worry about them getting lost in the mail or worry about spending money on a stamp. If you want to check it out you can get a free 30 day trial membership so you can determine if it is a service you like and will use. If you do like it you can send as many cards as you want for a yearly membership of $13.99. You couldn't buy more than a few regular cards for that price.

So between my calender, the organizer and the online cards I should be all set. I'm going to test it all out this month and see how it goes. If you should get a card from me and don't let me know about it. :-)

Love Letters

Valentine's Day is fast approaching... Yes it really is... You can't deny it... It's less than a month away. But the good news is that you still have time to prepare. And who doesn't want to get Romantic Love Letters on Valentine's Day? It's fun and sweet and well just plain nice! That scores big Valentine's Day points, trust me!!! So to help you out there is a great website that is sponsoring this post and also offering romance for everyone. This site has sample love letters. So you can visit and get a little inspired and then write a great letter of your own. One of my favorites from the site is a simple letter.

You are...

loved
honored
respected
treasured
adored
cherished
longed for and...
missed.

I love you,

See isn't that sweet. I don't need a big long gushy mushy love letter. Just tell me you appreciate me. That scores more points than anything! So visit the site, get some great ideas and who knows maybe you won't end up in the doghouse this year...

Tired

Wow I'm worn out today! I didn't sleep well at all last night. For some reason I was wide awake until 1:45 last night. I just couldn't go to sleep. But then I had to be up at 5:00 to hit the gym. So it's been kicking my butt all day. Hopefully that means I will sleep very well tonight! Nothing like starting the semester off worn out. I guess that is just a sign of things to come.

Top Phones

Wirefly who is sponsoring this post just announced the top 10 cell phones of 2006. After perusing the list I was not a bit suprised to find that my cell phone is NOT on the list. My cell phone is probably on the bottom 10 cell phones of 2006 list. I'm not impressed with it and from the looks of things it doesn't appear anyone else was either.

The RAZR phone took the top 2 spots on the list. I've heard lots of good things about the RAZR phone. What I love about it is that it is so thin and it comes in so many different colors. There is even the Project Red RAZR phone. When you purchase it part of the proceeds go to the Project Red Campaign. So not only is it a great phone it is also charitable to purchase it. Doesn't that make you feel better about spending time on the cell phone.

Wirefly predicted in 2005 that there would be an increase in demand for phones that had music and camera capabilities. They were correct with this prediction. 9 of the top 10 phones were camera phones and several of them had music capabilities. Wirefly is a leader in online cell phone shopping. You can easily compare prices and features and make the best cell phone purchasing decision possible. Make sure you visit Wirefly to purchase a top of the notch cell phone.

I have to say thanks to CyberCelt over at Texas RV Travel Blog. She is the first person to donate to my Relay For Life Campaign. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! The American Cancer Society is an amazing organization that really puts all their donations to a great cause. The advances that have been made in cancer treatment as a result of their work are inspiring. Please consider making a donation too.

I also have to tell you that Texas RV Travel Blog is one of Cricket's (my stepmom) favorite blogs. She really enjoys it. In fact Cricket told me to visit this blog. Well I start back to school on Tuesday! Actually I don't have to go to class until next Monday but my internet classes start Tuesday. I am actually really excited to be getting back in the game. I missed it. I don't regret taking the time off to be with my mom at all but I did miss the social work program. I am ready to get back at it and get done. Only three semesters left. There is light at the end of the tunnel! Yippeeeeee!!!!

Showdown!

This post is sponsored by

You know in those old westerns there was always a showdown. Someone would tick someone off in a barn and the next thing you know they were out in the street shooting one another. It wasn't pretty. Well I know about a showdown coming up but it doesn't involve old cowboys or guns.

Emoze has invited Blackberry to participate in an ultimate showdown where only one will survive. The deciding factor will be to determine who gets there email, calender and contacts easier and faster and free.

Emoze does offer free services... If you want to see for yourself you can Download Emoze Free Today. I wonder what Blackberry is going to do... Who do you think will win the ultimate showdown???

Empty House

Well the house is empty today. Just me and Miss Lena. Heather made it back to school safely. She didn't have a single problem so that is good! And she was right about going last night. If she would have waited until today it would have been a lot worse. It's been sleeting like crazy here today. It started around 10:30 and it's just like frozen pouring rain. Weird.

So since the weather is crap Lena and I have been hanging in the house. I've done laundry and watched a movie and did more laundry and blogged some. Big exciting day here. Tonight I'm gonna work on my photo album stuff. Again really exciting... I hate feeling trapped in the house. But I'm so not driving in this weather. I'm a crappy driver in good weather. I really don't need to drive when the roads are bad.

So I'll just be here... waiting for the thaw...

Biloxi

My Dad and Cricket were working in New Orleans for quite awhile after the hurricane. They spent a lot of time there and noticed that even though there were lots of people there working not a lot of progress had been made in the clean up. By comparison you can go to Biloxi and they are really on the mend. They allowed the federal government to help in the clean up and they have made great progress. People are now beginning to visit Biloxi again and the people there are ready for some guests. There is a helpful site that has reviews of all the major places you can stay when visiting Biloxi. There are fun things to do like the Biloxi Casinos. So now that they are on the mend you might want to take the time to visit when you have a chance.

Seriously I think I'm really turning into my mom. Heather had to go back to school today. I was already a little upset about it. I wasn't quite ready to have my nest be empty. She is such a joy to have around. That girl fills a house up. She really is amazingly fun. So I was a little freaked by her leaving.

But right now we are having horrible weather! Sleet and ice and really bad roads. It's not a good idea to be driving right now. But she insists she has to go tonight. She has an RA training thing she has to be at tomorrow morning at 9:00 so she would have had to leave her at 7:00 to make it and the roads are supposed to be worse tomorrow. So she probably should have gone tonight but still I wasn't pleased. In fact I'm worried sick.

But we loaded everything up and I reviewed the rules. Wear the seatbelt, no loud music, no i-pod while driving, no talking on the cell phone, drive slow, pay attention, tap the breaks, and call me as soon as she arrives. She swore she would follow the rules and I sent her with candles and blankets in case she goes of the road and has to wait awhile for help. And I hugged her and kissed her and told her I loved her. Then I stood at the window and waved and bawled as she drove off. Damn kid! She has totally turned me into mom. I don't know how many times mom did that with both of us but I guess I learned to panic and worry and love a kid to death from her.

Candle Craze

I just counted and I have 11 candles burning in my house right now. It's very cold and the candles make it a little warmer. But I also love the smell of candles and I love how they look! They just relax me. I've spent probably way more money on candles then a person ever should, it's crazy really. And my friends are spending the money too. Everyone I know has tons of candles. It makes me wonder if I ought to sell candles. Maybe then I could make some money on candles rather than spend money.

There is a Gourmet Scented Candle Business called Scent-Sations, Inc. They are sponsoring this post and you can get more information about their business opportunities here. If you fill out a form for a free candle drawing on their site you can also get free scent samples to figure out which candle you like the best.

This Could Be Fun

This post is sponsored by www.spoofcard.com. They have come up with what could be a pretty entertaining concept. You can get one of their spoof cards which is a calling card that allows you to change the phone number that displays on a caller id, disguise your voice, and record your conversations. I can see how this could be a little bit controversial but I think it could also be a little bit fun. I think I could really play some practical jokes on some people with one of these cards. So visit SpoofCard.com to find out more.

Relay For Life

Well last September I walked in the Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. We formed a team in honor of my mom. We called ourselves Dee's Diva's. My mom ended up dying 6 days before the Relay was to be held. We all still walked. it was hard to be there and it was emotional but we did it because it was the right thing to do. We weren't just walking for my mom we were walking for everyone with cancer. And it was worth it. We raised $2300 as a team and had a pretty good time.

Now this year we are already planning ahead. My sister is joining in on the relay and we are going to compete against one another a little bit. We are going to form two teams. Dee's Diva's 1 and Dee's Diva's 2, each of us will be team captains. But the goal is to see which team can raise more money! My personal goal is to raise $1000. As a team I'd like to raise $3500.

So I'm asking for your help! I have put a little PayPal donation button on the right hand side of my blog. If you feel like donating to a very good cause please do so. When you donate please let me know your blog url so I can give you a shout out and a whole lot of thanks!

TV

This post is sponsored by DirectStarTV.com. They are the online retailer for Directv service. When I lived with my mom she had Directv service for many years. She lived out in the country so it was hard to get cable service but Directv was what we always used and it worked great. The signal was clear which is a BIG deal when you live in the middle of nowhere. That doesn't happen very often. We also had a wide selection of channels and it was affordable. No huge cable bills. So stop by and Visit Direct Star TV for deals on DIRECTV service.

Friday's Feast #3

Appetizer

What comes to mind when you see the color orange? When I see orange it reminds me of my old bathroom. It was painted an awesome orange color and I kinda miss it!

Soup

Did you ever get in trouble in while you were in school? If so, what was it for? I did get in trouble in school for talking in class, goofing around, and once or twice for fighting.

Salad

Which toppings make up your perfect pizza? No toppings for me! I love the crust and the sauce.

Main Course

Do you believe in aliens/UFO's? Why or why not? I do believe in aliens and ufo's. I think that there has to be more out there than just us! Humans are pretty cool but it's a big world... there has to be room for something more...

Dessert

What color is your comforter/bedspread? My comforter is blue, red, green and beige. I love it!

Power Of Attorney

When my mom first got sick we were so overwhelmed. On top of all the emotional chaos her diagnosis brought we had to also focus on all the practical things that she like so many others had put off. She had to create a new will, determine who would be her power of attorney and sign a DNR. It was incredibly hard to do all of those things when she wasn't feeling well and was scared. I would encourage everyone to do these things in advance. My sponsor offers an online Power of Attorney Form. You ought to make things easier on yourself and your family and fill it out.

Breaking News

Okay I'm a little freaked out by this... I just pulled up cnn.com and the breaking news says that an explosion riped through the US Embassy in Athens Greece. That's not good folks! My big fear about this whole international travel thing has been bombs. I don't wanna have our tour bus blown up or something weird like that happen. I don't mind dying so much it's the idea of pain and fire and shrapnel that bothers me greatly. That's not pretty! So I'm hoping that by the time we go there won't be anymore bombs... Ugh now I'm a nervous traveler!

Poker Forums

The guys at work spend a lot of time playing online poker. They think it is the coolest thing ever. They are always looking for new online poker websites and information. I'm going to tell them about these Poker Forums. This is a very cool site. They have all kinds of things related to online poker. It's really an online poker players dream!

They have a lot of articles that are pretty interesting. I'm thinking Todd would like those. He is into that type of thing. Honestly the articles were the most helpful to me. Since the only thing I know about poker is what I overhear from everyone at work the articles cleared some things up for me. Some of the articles I liked the most were the five fundamentals of poker, 8 poker lessons, and poker tips and strategies.

I also liked the blog section. I thought it was really pretty informative. I'm thinking I should review the strategies section a little more. Maybe then I could learn a thing or too. At this point there is no way I could even compete with the guys. I need a tutorial in online poker to say the very least...

What is great about this site is that it is easy to use! You can quickly find the information you are looking for which is great. There aren't a ton of graphics like so many other sites so it loads fast and you don't spend a lot of time sifting through the unimportant stuff to get to the meat of the site. It's clear, crisp and too the point. I appreciate that!

So if you are into online poker or if you just spend a lot of time at the office hearing about it like I do then this may be the place to visit. That way you can keep up with all the newest things. Tomorrow I'm going to shock the guys with some of my new online poker knowledge. I'm cool like that thanks to my sponsors over at the Poker Forums.

Jessie

Zumba

Well tonight I get to go back to Zumba! We have been off for a couple of weeks due to the New Year and a new session starting and all that stuff. So I'm psyched. I've been missing it. I think I'm going to start water aerobics on the nights I don't have Zumba. Darby likes water aerobics and she is gonna do it too. That way we can talk for an hour. That is my favorite part about water aerobics. There is no talking at Zumba. So water aerobics can be a little bit of a workout and we can get caught up on stuff. So that's the plan!

Wordless Wednesday #3 - My Niece Mattie

New Neighbors

Well this morning before work I ran out to mom's place (aka the cemetary). Mom's place sounds much nicer. I got her a couple new decorations and needed to switch things out. It was freezing out there this morning. I talked to her about getting heat but I'm thinking that might not happen. :-) She does however have new neighbors. It's a really small cemetary and not used to often so new neighbors is an event. I have the names of all the other people memorized. I check on them all when I go to check on mom. Make sure everything is cleaned up. So now I have a new person. They didn't have anything on their grave yet so I left some of mom's flowers for them that I was just going to take home. So now mom's place and theirs is all decorated and pretty. I'm glad I got out there today to take care of things because I guess a big ice storm is coming in tomorrow and that means I won't be able to go again until the ice clears. Timing is everything I suppose.

Broken Things

When something breaks at my house everything breaks at my house! Tonight is not my night. For some reason my very old garage door opener has decided that it is dying tonight! It is smoking and the door keeps going up and down. So I've unplugged it and bought a new one. Now I just have to get it installed.

My cable is not working. Yes I checked and I have paid the bill. So it's not my fault. But I have a ton of stuff recorded from when I was gone and now I can't watch it. That makes me unhappy. I keep trying to call the cable company but the line is busy so I'm guessing that I must not be the only one without cable. I was really hoping that I could get caught up on my Dog the Bounty Hunter and Days of our Lives... Guess that won't happen tonight.

And to top it off my cell phone is being really weird. It will ring but then as soon as I answer it drops the call. It says I have voicemail and I check it but then there isn't any voicemail. So I don't get it. I guess I'm going to Alltel in the morning. No fun!

So welcome home to me!

Honey for your Tummy?

Yes that's right I said Honey for your Tummy! This post is sponsored by mothersintuition.com and they have a great product called Tummy Honey that will prevent stretch marks. I wish I would have found out about this product before Amanda had Mattie. But the good news is that Tummy Honey can be used before or after pregnancy to prevent and reduce stretch marks. So it could still help her out. Tummy Honey is all natural and it is hypoallergenic so anyone can use it. I think I might order some to keep on hand for baby shower gifts!

Jessie

Home Sweet Home

Oh thank goodness we are home! I feel like we have been in the car forever. Honestly this is the fastest trip from Evansville we have ever made. We made it in exactly 7 hours and 17 minutes. That's a new record!!! I'm impressed with our quick driving abilites. What I'm really impressed with is the fact that we only stopped once to fill up and go to the bathroom. We didn't drink much all day but that's dedication for ya. We really just wanted to get home so we could get some stuff done tonight. Mainly use the computer without driving around looking for a connection...

Dog Cards

Oh my gosh I've found the most adorable cards for dog lovers! They are really cute!!!! You have to go check out these Animated ecards for dog lovers! You can pick the type of dog that is on the card. They have a large selection of different breeds of dogs you can put on the card. But the best part in my opinion is that you can actually use photos of your own dog. So my cutie pie Lena could be the star of the card. How fun is that! There is a yearly membership fee of $9.95 but a portion of that goes to the petfinder.com foundation. So it's money well spent.

Wow

We have gotten a lot done today. Hung out with Mattie most of the day. She continues to fascinate us. She has jaudice pretty bad so she has to have this light blanket around her most of the time. It turns her blue so when she has the light saber on she looks like a blue light special at K-Mart. Gotta love that.

I did her black and white pictures tonight. We also did some with Sunflowers. I think they will be pretty cool. My mom loved sunflowers so we wanted to do something special for her. I think I may put one of them in my kitchen since I kept all my mom's sunflower stuff up in there.

Heather and I hit Hobby Lobby today and got some amazing deals on decorations for her room. She is pretty psyched. It is for her room in Wichita. She decided that WSU is where she is heading next year for school and she will be living with her best friend Kelci. I think that is a good plan and now she has cool stuff for her room.

Okay the neighbor people are starting to notice me so I'm signing off for tonight. I'm so glad I haven't had the cops called on me yet. I don't wanna push it. :-) Tomorrow night I'll be blogging from home. We are hoping to get home by 5 or 6 tomorrow night. I guess there is snow coming in and we are hoping to beat it.

So till then....

Get Moving

When my mom was sick she of course had a difficult time walking for very long. The motorized scooters available at the malls and stores in town were absolutely necessary for her to be able to hit the stores with us. And a girl has to shop! One thing I noticed then and I continue to notice is that the number of scooters available are limited. A lot of people that need them don't have them available. There are so many elderly and ill people that could benefit from a personal mobility scooter. So if you are one of those people please check out my sponsor's site and consider getting a personal mobility scooter. It can really lead to more freedom and help conserve energy.

Dedication... or Addiction

Well I don't know if I'm a dedicated blogger or an addicted one. It may be a bit of both. I am in Indiana visiting my lovely niece Mattie! She is adorable by the way! But they don't have Internet access. So my little blogging addiction is going crazy. So I've now driven around their neighborhood and found someone with an unsecured wireless network. So I'm on! I'm guessing that eventually the neighbors will notice an odd girl sitting in her car blogging and wonder what in the hell is going on. But until then HI!!!

Okay Mattie rocks. She weighs like 5.9 pounds, sleeps, eats, poops, and cries. She doesn't know any tricks, can't talk and doesn't know a single joke. But I'm fascinated by her. She is an amazing little person. How God makes something so tiny that is so perfect is beyond me. It's really miraculous.

I hold her and think of my mom. I know how much mom would have loved to have met her. I know how important that was to her. I know what an amazing grandma she would have been. And I ache to have her here with us. What's funny is I do feel like she knows Mattie, I feel like she knew her before any of the rest of us did. And I know when I hold Mattie that even though my heart hurts it is healing. A new life and a new year. We will survive. Joy is rising to the top and the pain is lessening. I miss my mom but hope is floating to the top. Hope of our future as a family. Babies are a gift, my mom taught us that. We won't let this gift be overridden by grief.

So thank God for Mattie! And if you have your mom give her a hug for me!

Fun Times

Well my Dad and Cricket are here visiting. It is nice to have them around. They are at my Grandma and Grandpa's today. They are helping to build some safer steps for my Grandma. She is using a walker now and needs some steps that are walker friendly. They will be visiting until tomorrow morning. Then when they head back to Texas Heather and I are heading to Indiana to see Miss Maddie. We have lots of spoiling to do...

Maddie Arrives!

My niece Maddie Joye was born at 7:50 tonight! She weighed in at 5lbs 9 ounces and is 20 inches long! I think I love her. Her picture is pretty cute. I want to post it but can't figure out how to get it off of my phone and onto the computer. But the most important thing is that mom and baby are doing well. This little gal has had quite an ordeal just getting here so we are really grateful that she is alright! Heather and I are heading to Indiana on Saturday to go see her. We are pretty excited!

Piece #25

I have a puzzle piece! I'm so freaking excited about this. PayPerPost and HP are sponsoring this post as well as a really cool puzzle piece scavenger hunt. Tamale just took a trip to Europe. That's big news because we all know how stressed she gets. So she took a trip and took tons of pictures with her HP camera and PPP made a collage out of it. Then they split the collage into 30 pieces and they are all over the web. Whoever puts the pieces back together first wins some big money! So everyone is on the hunt so they can grab the $1000 prize. And luckily I have one of the pieces that everyone needs. I got good old piece #25! So not only did Tamale get a trip but she also got a great camera from HP, amazing Digital Photo Printing, and now we all get the chance to put together the puzzle and win some bucks. So happy hunting and don't forget that this post is sponsored by HP!

LoudLaunch

Well LoudLaunch has launched itself into the blog advertising world. LoudLaunch allows bloggers like me to be compensated for helping advertisers release news or press releases to the public. So if you are wanting to make some money blogging you ought to check them out. They have a very easy to use site that I am pretty impressed with. Any advertiser can create an ad campaign for as little as $50. That's a pretty good deal. Advertising can turn into an expensive ordeal so this would be a great way for advertisers to get the word out their about their products or services in an affordable way. It's worth checking out for bloggers and advertisers alike.

Investment Help

Well Heather and I have met with a financial advisor for some help and sound advice on investing. It's hard to know for sure what to do with money. I try to pay attention to thing like Roth's and compound interest and 401k's. I try to be smart about money but I'm a social worker not a banker. So I know when to ask for help. While I was searching about looking for some help I came across this site PowerOptions. It offers a way to find, track, and analyze stocks. On the site you can also filter and sort all your investment information to help you keep track of everything. That's always a good thing. You don't wanna lose your money. They do have a free 14 day trial and a customer support line to help you out. So if you need some help and are okay with the online thing then you may want to check it out.

Fun Money

Well you all know that I'm loving PayPerPost because they are paying me for blogging. They have paid me quite a bit over the last few months. So far I've made over right around $600 and I have another $500 coming in the next 30 days. That rocks! But more than that I'm having fun doing it. I just hosted the first PayPerPost postie carnival, I'm meeting fun people on the forums, and I've found some really great blogs! So not only do I get paid but I get all that fun stuff for free. So I would strongly encourage you to sign up with PayPerPost. All you have to do is click the little PayPerPost affiliate button on my blog and it will take you there. Your blog will need to be at least 90 days old and have 20 posts in that 90 days. Once you join you really ought to put the affiliate button on your blog too. That way people can easily get to PayPerPost, sign up, make you some money ($15 for each person that joins through your affiliate button), make them some money and you all can have a lot of fun. You can even join our carnival. Just in case you hadn't guessed it yet this post does happen to be sponsored by PayPerPost.

Randomness

Some random things that happened today...

I realized that the PPP Postie Blog Carnival was my 500th post. I just think that is kinda neat!

The deadline to enter the Bestest Blog Carnival is midnight tonight so make sure you head over there to get your submission in.

I got my kitchen and my bathroom painted. I really like the colors Heather and I picked! The kitchen is a gold color which looks great with all the sunflower stuff I have. The bathroom is called "court violet". But basically it is a purple color that I really do like. I wasn't sure at first but now that it's dry I'm digging it. Now I do believe that every room in the house has been painted twice in the past 6 months. Amazing isn't it!

I went to my first weigh in for weight watchers. For my first week I lost 4 pounds!!! I'm very happy about that. I was hungry some this week so I was hoping that was a good sign. Yay Me! That means that I've lost 10 pounds in the month of December which is pretty awesome. Usually I'm gaining in December so that's a big deal for me!

Heather and I went and picked out mom's headstone today. We were dreading it but it really was okay. The guy that helped us was SUPER!!! Seriously one of the nicest men I've met in a long time. He was so good about answering our questions and really went above and beyond. He could do everything we requested which was a lot! We wanted to have this prayer that my mom had written put on the backside of the headstone. He is not only doing that but he is going to do it in her handwriting. How amazing is that!!! I'm so happy about that. I love how she wrote. So mission accomplished. If you ever need a headstone I would totally recommend East Central Monuments in Lebo Kansas, ask for Keith. Very nice man and a totally great price!!! We had budgeted out 3-5,000 for this and it ended up being less that 2000.00 so that rocks. We even got a discount because we paid in full today. Bargain shoppers. Mom would be so proud. :-)

Okay I'm going to bed.

Jessie

Packed Gym

Well the gym was PACKED this morning. It was pretty crazy. I've been going for three months now and I've never once had to wait on a machine. Today I waited too much. I know people make New Year's resolutions to go to the gym and lose weight and all that stuff. But this is my life resolution. I made this decision prior to some hyped up resolution making holiday. So I find it a bit annoying that those of us that are gym regulars are standing around waiting while the new people figure it out. I should smile and be nice but I just like to get in get my workout done and get on with my day. So instead of it taking 45 minutes at the gym I was there for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Nothing quick about that. But I got my workout done and I'm home and I'm gonna paint my bathroom so I should just not complain and be happy that I got my workout done.

Digestive Enzymes

This post is sponsored by www.faithmeds.com. Right now they have a product called EnzymePlus. EnzymePlus is designed to help you process your food and aid with complete digestion. Proper digestion is necessary so you can take in all the nutrients from the food you eat. EnzymePlus is completely natural and has no side effects. I know when my mom had cancer she had to take numerous prescribed digestive enzymes. Some of those prescriptions caused a lot of side effects. But with this product being all natural a person could avoid the side effects but benefit from the product itself. So as the new year starts and we focus on our health again you may want to consider EnzymePlus for Proper Digestion.

Last Minute Auction

I have lucked out lately and found some great bargains on Ebay. I love online auctions but I seem to have a few problems understanding the process. I will bid and watch and bid and watch and then if I end up the high bidder I tell people that I "won" the item. Not very accurate since I do have to pay for the item... Now I've come across Lastminute Auction. At Lastminute Auction they have thousands of items listed for auction on Sundays. It's a great way to find some neat items and save a few bucks. So take the time and visit and maybe you can find my birthday present...
